Dental Hygienist
“I am from Southern Ohio. After graduating with my dental hygiene degree in 2014, I moved to Columbus and have loved it ever since.”
Why did you choose dentistry?
“As a child, I always loved going to the dentist, and I was inspired by my dental hygienist to become one myself!”
What’s the best part of your job?
“A rewarding part of my job is getting the chance to help and educate patients daily and give them confidence. I think my kind and caring personality adds value to our patients’ experience too.”
What do you do outside of the office?
“I enjoy spending time with family and friends, hiking, and spending time with my cats!”
What’s one item on your bucket list?
“Travel to New Zealand!”

Dental Hygienist
“Hello, I am Mary, and I’ve been practicing dental hygiene for 20 years! I live here in beautiful Lewis Center with my husband, Shannon, and our three sweet boys, Aiden, Collin, and Wesley. We have a beautiful Golden Retriever named Brooklyn, who we absolutely adore. There’s never a quiet or dull moment in my house. I like to call it happy chaos.”
Why did you choose dentistry?
“I chose to become a dental hygienist because I spent a lot of time in the dental chair when I was younger. They taught me so much each time I was there that I fell in love with dentistry. The rest is history.”
What’s the best part of your job?
“The best part of my job is making personal connections with our patients. I enjoy educating everyone who walks in our door on why the health of your mouth can affect your overall health. And I really enjoy listening to our patients no matter what age and love making everyone feel comfortable while they are there. I would even dare to say we have some fun together!”
What do you do outside of the office?
“In my spare time, I spend a lot of time with my family and our friends! We love to be outdoors, boating, fishing, hiking, and even ziplining.”
What’s one item on your bucket list?
“I would love to see the northern lights in Sweden someday.”
What’s an interesting fact about yourself?
“I have done three sprint triathlons!”
Dental Assistant
“I grew up in the small town of Plain City, OH. I married my high school sweetheart in 2011 and moved to Fort Hood, TX for three years; my husband was stationed there while in the Army. We had our first child two years after we got married, a little girl. Then we moved back to Plain City in 2015 and had our second child in 2019, a little boy. They light up our lives!”
Why did you choose dentistry?
“I actually started my career in the hair industry and moved onto dentistry in 2017. My passion is helping people and making them feel great about themselves. In dentistry, I get to do both!”
What’s the best part of your job?
“Getting to work with the best humans! Our team is the best! We’re all a piece of the Olentangy Modern Dental puzzle; together, we make it work! I would say compassion is my most valuable personality trait. In dentistry, we see a lot of fear. My favorite thing ever is to change the way people view coming to the dentist! A little compassion goes a long way!”
What do you do outside of the office?
“In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my kiddos! Getting ice cream is our family fav! My husband and I also enjoy going kayaking!”

Who is your hero, and why?
“My hero is my Papa. He’s the hardest working human I know, and he can fix anything!”
Patient Coordinator
“I commute over an hour to Olentangy Modern Dental from Urbana, where I live with my husband, our two pre-teen boys, and our miniature dachshund – who is the real boss of the family!”
Why did you choose dentistry?
“I’ve always had a passion for customer service and enjoy being in a position where I have the opportunity to interact with people – hopefully leaving their day a little better than it was before! I’m in the perfect industry to exceed expectations and transform a dental visit into a unique experience our patients can look forward to.”
What’s the best part of your job?
“The best part is smile transformations! It is incredibly fulfilling to be a part of a patient’s journey to a beautiful, healthy smile they’re proud to show off! Smiles are so contagious! My attention to detail comes into play a lot when preparing treatment plans and working with the various insurance carriers to ensure our patients maximize their benefits and pay the least out of pocket for their dental care.”
What do you do outside of the office?
“I love to get my creative juices flowing! I’m an event planner, wedding coordinator, and busy mom. When I’m not organizing or chaperoning, I enjoy eating out with my husband (tacos & sushi are my favs!) or snuggling up with my wiener dog, Hannah. My youngest son and I are both animal lovers and volunteer at our local animal shelter a couple of days a week.”

“It is not enough to want to make the effort and to say we’ll make the effort. We must actually make the effort. It’s in the doing, not just the thinking, that we accomplish our goals.
