- How does BOTOX work? How do dermal filler work?
BOTOX blocks nerve signals to your facial muscles, which decreases the facial muscle activity and temporarily prevents muscle contractions that cause laugh lines, crows feet, and frown lines.
Dermal fillers replenish the natural substances that deteriorate as you age. Your skin, cheeks, and lips will lift, plump, and soften.
- Do the injections hurt?
BOTOX and dermal filler injections don’t hurt.

- The injection sites are numbed with a topical anesthetic beforehand
- Even without a numbing agent, you’ll only feel a small pinch – the needles are extremely small

- How long do the results last?
On average, BOTOX lasts 3-4 months, and dermal fillers last 6-12 months.
You’ll need to repeat (or adjust) treatment as the product begins to wears off.
- Will I look fake?
No, you won’t look fake or frozen with BOTOX or dermal filler. At least, not unless you want to!
Most patients prefer a natural look, while others don’t. Dr. Gavin will customize your treatment to your desire and what makes you feel your best.
To achieve your desired result:
You’ll first meet with Dr. Gavin for a consultation to discuss your goals and take before photos. Then, she’ll recommend a personalized treatment plan.
We always recommend a two-week follow-up appointment to make any touch-ups, as needed. For example, if you want more BOTOX added, we’ll do that!
- Does BOTOX help with headaches?
Yes, BOTOX helps relieve headaches and migraines.
It can also help with dental problems and TMJ symptoms, including:
